NO MORE LIVES CUT SHORT

Annual Report 2024/25

At Breast Cancer Trials, our vision is simple yet powerful:

NO MORE LIVES CUT SHORT

This vision is what drives every clinical trial, every discovery, and every person involved in our organisation. It is more than just a goal; it is a commitment to ensuring that no one’s future is compromised, due to the lack of effective breast cancer treatments or prevention strategies.

Real Stories. Real Impact.

“I found the lump myself and was shocked when it was breast cancer. Our boys were just 4, 7, and 13, and after a big cry, my husband and I made a deal to do everything we could to beat it. Since then, four people I know have been diagnosed too.”

Belinda Ward | diagnosed age 45

“I didn’t think I’d get it and no one in my family has had breast cancer. But I want to be here to see the big moments in my children’s lives and to watch my grandchildren grow up.”

Wendy Rolls | diagnosed age 63

“My treatment can be challenging and leave me feeling weak and anxious at times. I’m thankful for my partner, children, parents, sisters and extended family who support me and fuel me with the will to recover.”

Michelle Mozo | diagnosed age 47

“I had this very unusual feeling in my chest, so I went for an ultrasound and the day after my doctor said it was breast cancer. It was a shock and a bit surreal but my biggest fear was how my daughters would react.”

Elissa Simms | diagnosed age 48

Breast Cancer Trials at a glance.

There are 1,014 researchers, including medical oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists and nurses, who are involved in the conduct of the BCT research program.

There are 118 participating institutions in Australia and New Zealand and 68 international sites in Chile, Argentina, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland and Taiwan.

Since 1978, 17,910 people have participated in our clinical trials, to help us find new and better treatments for breast cancer.

Our research is made possible thanks to the 26,000 supporters who donated and raised funds in 2024-2025.

Our research program encompasses approximately 95 clinical trials in various stages of recruitment, follow-up, analysis and publication.

We have contributed to 1,330 scientific publications, which are advancing medical knowledge and improving treatments and prevention strategies for breast cancer.
